Do you make a transfer? This mistake will bring the bank and the tax office to your attention
During the Christmas and New Year’s Eve period, we can make more transfers than usual. Transactions may include, among others, settlements for joint gifts or contributions to a New Year’s party. In her Instagram reel, lawyer Justyna Sobolak reminds us of one mistake that may cause the tax office to become interested in the transaction.
Don’t do this in the transfer
First of all, the bank, and later also the tax office, may be interested in transfers of large amounts. They are obliged to monitor transfers amounting to approximately PLN 65,000. PLN (15 thousand euro) and higher. However, it is not the amount itself that is decisive here. Regular transactions for smaller amounts may also raise doubts.
According to the regulations, banks are obliged to monitor transactions worth approximately PLN 65,000 (EUR 15,000) and higher. Such transfers can be automatically reported and checked if necessary. But that doesn’t mean that only large amounts are a problem. Smaller transfers, if they occur frequently and regularly, can also attract attention – especially when it is difficult to pinpoint their clear source.
In addition, there is one more thing that may draw your attention. CThis is, of course, about the title of the transfer. What may seem like a simple joke may be a warning light for the bank and the tax office. Entering the words ‘protection’, ‘ransom’, ‘for last night’s money’ or ‘for drugs’ in the title may result in having to explain yourself to a bank employee. It’s better to avoid this.
The title of the transfer is also important. What is a joke to us can be a warning sign to banking systems. Even neutral but very general descriptions, in the case of larger amounts or repeated transactions, may result in questions about the purpose of the transfer.
