Do you like breaking speed limits? New regulations will hit you

The end of the concessionary tariff. The new regulations coming under the EU GSR2 regulation will trim the claws of many drivers. The reason is very important, however, and it is greater safety on the roads of the Community.

The GSR2 regulation consists of a whole package of changes. You can read about the regulations concerning, for example, driver fatigue control in this article. But there are more changes, and they will affect, among others, those who like to drive faster than is allowed. If you dream of a new car – you will not escape solutions monitoring such behavior.

Assistant – advisor

It is worth mentioning that the ISA system itself, or (Intelligent Speed Assistant), is not entirely new. For two years now, all new cars that have not had homologation must be equipped with it. But that is no more. New regulations will mean that from July 7, every car that leaves the showroom must be equipped with this system. How does it work?

When we exceed the speed limit, the car will inform us about it for 5 seconds with an audible signal. And where does the knowledge about exceeding the speed limit come from? This will be possible thanks to cameras installed in the car equipped with the ability to recognize road signs and navigation. The ISA system will not be an oracle, but rather – as the name suggests – an assistant that will only suggest the maximum speed based on the information collected. In the case of, for example, worse weather, it may have greater difficulties with this, hence the obligation to adapt the car’s driving to the road conditions will still be on the driver’s side.

But that’s not the end of the changes. It’s worth mentioning another interesting solution that GSR2 introduces from July 7, namely black boxes. These will also be mandatory in new cars, not only those without homologation. It will be somewhat reminiscent of solutions known from aircraft, although here the EDR (Event Data Recorder) module will focus on just a few seconds directly related to the accident. It will provide information such as vehicle speed, brake pressure indicator, steering wheel movements or vehicle roll angles.
