Microsoft has released an update to Windows 11 that cannot be installed. For many users, the process stops at 96 percent. and throws an error.

The latest update to Windows 11, marked as February 2024 update (KB5034765), is causing problems for many users. In practice, many people are unable to even install it.

Faulty Windows update

Reports indicate that the KB5034765 update, which was released on February 13, has many users unable to complete the installation process. It stops at 96 percent and then displays error code 0x800F0922.

Windows 11 devices attempting to install the February 2024 security update released on February 13, 2024 (KB5034765) may encounter installation errors and the system may become unresponsive at 96 percent. We are working to resolve this issue and will provide an update in an upcoming release.

If problems occur, the Redmond company recommends deleting the hidden “C:$WinREAgent” folder. After this, you may need to restart your computer. Unfortunately, this is only a temporary solution and does not always work. We still have to wait for a specific amendment.

Microsoft has not revealed what is causing the update installation problem. Some suggest that WinRE, i.e. Windows Recovery Environment, may be behind this. It was similar with the January update KB5034441.
