Do you have a Pekao account? Urgent message. Better get acquainted
CSIRT KNF warns against fake Bank Pekao website. Falling for it, we risk losing data and money.
Recently there have been reports of fake websites that pretend to be Bank Pekao. Cybercriminals use such sites to steal login details for online banking or payment card information, which can result in significant financial losses. Before all this experts from the Computer Security Incident Response Team of the Polish Financial Sector (CSIRT KNF) warn.
How does fraud work?
Scammers create websites that look like almost identical to the official bank websites. In the case of Bank Pekao, the fake website uses the domain pekao24card.comwhich can easily mislead inattentive users. This page, imitating the actual appearance of the login page, encourages you to provide your customer number and password. In reality, this data ends up directly in the hands of criminals.

Providing your login details on a fake website may lead to serious financial consequences. Criminals can access bank accounts, make unauthorized transactions, and use payment card details to make purchases or withdraw cash.
Don’t get robbed!
To avoid becoming a victim of such fraud, it is worth following a few basic safety rules:
- Always check the website address – make sure that it is exactly the domain you expect (e.g. www.pekao24.pl, not a similar domain with a slight difference).
- Pay attention to site security – make sure the site uses a secure HTTPS connection.
- Be alert to unusual requests – banks never ask for full login details or payment card details outside official channels.
- Update your antivirus software – this will make your device better protected against malware or phishing.
If you notice a suspicious page or have already entered your details on a fake site:
- contact your bank immediately and inform them about the situation,
- change your online banking passwords,
- monitor your bank account for unauthorized transactions,
- Consider reporting the matter to the police to prevent further spread of fraud.
The threat of fake websites is real and affects many online banking users. It is important to always be vigilant and double check where you enter your login information. Education and caution are the best tools in the fight against cybercriminals.
