Disney took it and now it’s giving it back. An important feature returns
Dolby Vision returns to Disney+
In February 2026, Disney+ removed the Dolby Vision feature from its application in Europe. Consumers, including Poles, they paid the same for the subscription, but received worse image quality.
Dolby Vision is an advanced version of HDRwhich provides instead of general image optimization improvements for each individual scene. Thanks to this the difference between black and light parts is much greater.
We had to do without it for a while, and Disney+ offered regular HDR10 instead of Dolby Vision – with reduced brightness and without scene optimization. Unfortunately, there were also voices saying that the overall image quality has decreased. Additionally – on the Apple Vision Pro platform 3D movies removed.
All these problems resulted from patent dispute in Germany. Fortunately, there is good news, because Disney has restored full functionality. Enough update the application on Smart TVto recover Dolby Vision and better image quality.
So lucky Germany doesn’t have itbecause it is the only country in Europe that does so far will not receive Dolby Vision back (the case is still pending in the patent court).
It is worth emphasizing that the restoration of Dolby Vision was confirmed by the FlatpanelsHD portal — noting that Disney’s earlier statement talked about HDR10+ and 3D, but it didn’t mention Dolby Vision.
