Megamodels hacked – urgent appeal to users
The CERT Polska team warned in a message on the X platform that there had been a leak from the popular modeling website – megamodels.pl. Fraudsters carrying out an attack can very easily gain possession of a user’s password. CERT requests that login passwords be changed immediately.
‼️Attention. Our team has detected a leak of personal data of approximately 40,000 people registered on the website https://t.co/gArsaLuOwF.
At https://t.co/eHW0e2LpgP you can check if your data has been leaked. If you have used the same password on other services, you should change it.— CERT Polska (@CERT_Polska) July 11, 2024
The data leak affected 40 thousand people registered on the website. It included 182 thousand records that may prove to be extremely valuable targets for cybercriminals. All public data visible on user profiles fell into the hands of criminals – personal and address data, e-mail and telephone number, date of birth and even password hash.
With your own safety in mind, users are asked to change their passwords immediately not only on the portal, but also on all other sites where they used it.
It is worth remembering that changing passwords regularly, and preferably strong ones, is the best guarantee of security. If we have trouble coming up with a strong password, we can use password management programs. This is the only way we can make life a little more difficult for internet criminals.
