Cheap AMD Dragon Range now available. We know performance

For many months, reports about… series AMD Dragon Range. We are talking about architecture-based mobile processors Zen4which are essentially slightly modified desktop CPUs. Compared to the Hawk Point and Strix Point families we get up to 16 coreswhich were divided for two CCD systems.
AMD gives us 7% higher performance than Intel
Unfortunately, the availability of devices with them was very limited, but fortunately this will probably change. MSI released laptops for sale in China Shadow Raider with processor AMD Ryzen 7 7840HX. It offers 12 cores and 24 threads with a clock speed of 2.9 up to 5.9 GHzand the whole thing is complemented by 64 MB of L3 cache.
It should be noted that iGPU is a basic solution, used mainly for displaying the desktop. It’s about the arrangement Radeon 610M based on ancient architecture RDNA2 with two CU units. This is not a problem, because the Taiwanese provide us with a card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060which can handle most games.

No independent testing yet. However, according to data provided by MSI, AMD Ryzen 7 7840HX is expected to be 3% more efficient than Intel Core i7-13700HX in multi-threaded tasks. The loss compared to the higher clocked AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX is small, although noticeable – it is 8%.

As for the rest of the laptop’s specifications, MSI has focused on 17.3-inch 2.5K 240Hz screen16 GB DDR5 RAM, 1 TB SSD and WiFi 7. However, there was no support for the PCI Express 5.0 interface. The suggested price is 7,599 renminbi, i.e approximately PLN 4,279. Nothing is known about the premiere in Poland yet.
