Changes in the SSD market. Efficient models with new systems

The PCIe 5.0 x4 solid-state drive market is finally starting to see competition, with manufacturers no longer limited to Phison controllers.

Interface support PCI Express 5.0 It arrived at home in late 2021 thanks to Intel Alder Lake-S processors and LGA 1700 motherboards. A year later, they were joined by AMD Ryzen 7000 systems and AM5 platforms. PCIe 5.0 offers more than PCIe 4.0 twice as high transfers.

The new SSD will offer performance up to 12.5 GB/s and a 5-year warranty

This is mainly used by graphics cards and semiconductor media. And it just so happens that the Taiwanese company TeamGroup has just presented a new model. It is characterized by high performance, a new controller and a more attractive price than the competition.

TeamGroup T-Force GC PRO is SSD in format M.2 2280which uses the interface PCIe 5.0 x4 and the protocol NVMe 2.0. Controller used here InnoGrit IG5666 and 232-layer bones 3D TLC NAND. In the second case, the supplier remains unknown, but currently only offers them Micron and YMTC.

Changes in the SSD market. Efficient models with new systems

Declared performance is up to 12,500 MB/s for reading and up to 11,000 MB/s for sequential writing. So it is slightly slower than the previously presented TeamGroup T-Force GE PRO. The cooling system is a small graphene solutionwhich will fit in laptops and consoles.

TeamGroup T-Force GC PRO will be available in the following versions: 2 and 4TB. The manufacturer promises 5 year warranty limited by the data storage rate – 1200 and 2400 TBW respectively. The suggested prices have not been disclosed, but it’s supposed to be cheaper than SSD with Phison E26 controllers.
