BNP Paribas warns customers: such a message is an attack on the account
Another wave of fake news from BNP Paribas
The bank warns against the growing wave of fake e-mails that impersonate official banking correspondence. Fraudsters count on the fact that recipients do not carefully check the addresses of incoming messages and count on their inattention.
What news exactly is this about?
The email informs about “new unread message” and contains a link that is hidden under the phrase “View message”. It leads to a fake website, confusingly similar to the real online banking website. Fraudsters have one goal – they want to extort data used to log in to the bank’s transaction website.
What should you do in such a situation?
The bank advises you to remain vigilant. It is a good idea to develop the habit of checking the senders’ addresses of e-mail messages, especially if their content arouses concern or if it contains an attachment. A suspicious e-mail address that resembles an official one is an important warning factor that we may be dealing with an attempted fraud.
BNP Paribas experts advise not to respond to such a message in such a situation. You should also not fill out any forms or click on links contained in the message, or on foreign websites to which we will be redirected.
The bank never asks for confidential data via e-mailnor does it send login links in electronic messages.
