The purpose of the layoffs is reorganization of the company’s operations, which in turn is to enable AMD to truly compete with NVIDIA.

In recent years, that’s exactly what happened NVIDIA, has grown into a market leader in processors necessary to build advanced artificial intelligence models, while leaving the competition far behind.

We are in the process of changing the company’s strategy in order to focus our resources and attention on areas where we see the greatest potential for future development.

AI is growing and the gaming sector is getting weaker

In the last quarter, AMD’s sales results in the artificial intelligence sector have doubledwhile in the computer games segment the company recorded a decline of 69%.

AMD’s share price has fallen 3% this year, largely due to the company’s poor performance in artificial intelligence. The management board hopes that the announcement of a new version of processors dedicated to building MI325X artificial intelligence models and the concentration of production forces in this area will improve the company’s valuation.
