Beko will lay off nearly 2,000 Poles. This is the end of 2 factories

Beko Europe has been officially operating since April, after taking over a controlling stake in the European part of Whirlpool. One of the first decisions of the Turkish owner is to liquidate the Polish plants in Łódź and Wrocław.

Nearly 2,000 Whirpool employees to be laid off in Polish factories

Beko Europe has obtained an agreement with trade unionists, and now the company, in cooperation with local labor offices and authorities, will launch layoff programs aimed at supporting dismissed employees in returning to the labor market.

Of the approximately 20,000 Beko Europe employees, at the beginning of 2024, as many as 6,000 worked in Poland. Now, one of the leaders in the household appliances industry in Poland plans to consolidate the production of modernized plants in Wrocław and Radomsko, but also to liquidate two factories in Łódź and Wrocław.

As we read in Republic of Poland, trade unionists managed to obtain severance pay for employees from the company that was much higher than the statutory minimum.
