This luxury reinterpretation of Apple’s mixed reality headset, originally listed at $3,500, comes with a head-turning price tag of $39,900.
In the world of technology and luxury, refinement knows no bounds. Caviar, a company known for its opulent designs, demonstrated this once again by introducing the Apple Vision Pro CVR Edition, a luxury variant of Apple’s mixed reality headset. For those who thought the Apple Vision Pro’s $3,500 price tag was ridiculous, Caviar’s new gadget might make them dizzy with its $39,900 price tag.
The Caviar house has made a name for itself by designing unique editions of iPhones, some adorned with fragments of meteorites or parts of spaceships. The company’s latest creation, the Apple Vision Pro CVR Edition, once again pushes the boundaries of innovation and extravagance.
Instead of the original aluminum case, the headphones have an 18k gold case. The headband, on the other hand, is made from Connolly animal leather, a luxury brand known for its high-quality leather.
These changes give the Apple Vision Pro CVR Edition an aura of opulence and sophistication. However, we have questions about the comfort of use of the headset. Indeed, 18 carat gold, although being a material of great value, is much heavier than aluminum. Adding this material could therefore make the helmet considerably heavier, which could affect its comfort of use.
Availability of the Apple Vision Pro CVR Edition will be limited to just 24 pieces worldwide. Its launch is scheduled for autumn 2024. This exclusivity, combined with its astronomical price, makes this product a collector’s item intended for a very limited clientele.
It is difficult to understand the logic that drives individuals to spend such a considerable sum on this type of product. However, it should be noted that this headset is aimed at a niche market where price is often synonymous with prestige. For this clientele, the purchase of expensive products is not only a means of acquiring material goods, but also a means of displaying their status and wealth.
