Bad News for RPG Fans: Obsidian Delays New Game
Can’t wait for the new RPG from Obsidian Entertainment? Then you’ll have to be patient, the release will be postponed.
Obsidian Entertainment is a legendary video game producer from the USA, which has a number of cult titles under its belt. We are talking about, among others, Neverwinter Nights 2, Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords, Alpha Protocol, Fallout: New Vegas, series Pillars of Eternity and a lot more.
Avowed won’t be out until early 2025
The Americans’ newest game is supposed to be Avowedan action RPG set in the same universe as Pillars of Eternity. You can choose between first- and third-person views, but we won’t see standard classes known from other fantasy genres here. This time the target is a more mainstream audience.
Unfortunately, industry sources claim that Avowed’s premiere will be delayed. We won’t get the game in fall 2024, but only in early 2025. The reason is not production problems. Microsoft and/or Obsidian are reportedly worried about too much competition coming out on the originally planned date.
We are expecting the release of at least three similar AAA games in the fall. – Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 and Dragon Age: The Veilguard. These are the next installments of well-known and beloved series, so the decision seems sensible from a business point of view.
It is worth emphasizing that I Obsidian Compares Avowed to The Outer Worldstheir previous aRPG game. This means that we will get a pretty short gameplay hereę – in the case of The Outer Worlds we are talking about 13 hours. Avowed will be released on both PC and Xbox Series S/X consoles.
