The Chinese application from Moonscape Technologies has become so popular that reached the status of the most downloaded application in the Apple store. Perhaps users were intrigued by its name, which translates to “Are you dead?” Regardless of the catchy name, one thing must be admitted – it draws attention to a serious problem of our times, the issue of being alone.
I’m worried that if something happened to me, I could die alone in my rented apartment and no one would know. So I downloaded the app and set my mom as my emergency contact.
The application was introduced in May, but remained unnoticed for quite a long time. Not available on Android. Initially free of charge, now you have to pay 8 yuan, which corresponds to a total of PLN 4. The creators of the application are three people born in the 1990s. The idea for it was born during their joint discussion on social media.
How does the app work?
As in many cases, the app’s success lies in its simplicity. It is easy to use and intended for people living alone. The user must click a large green button on the phone screen every two days. If this does not happen, the application will automatically send a notification to the person indicated in the previously provided e-mail.
Designed with older people in mind, it is also eagerly downloaded by younger people, who have started installing it en masse in recent weeks. Thanks to this, it has become the most downloaded application in China.
People living alone at any stage of their lives need something like this, as do introverts, people suffering from depression, the unemployed and others in difficult situations.
