Apple computers will enter a new era. New systems will help with this

Apple is preparing new chips for its computers, thanks to which the company will enter a new era of AI PC. A little behind the competition, but better late than never.

AMD, Intel and even Qualcomm in the form of Snapdragon X Elite offer processors with NPU systems to support artificial intelligence. Apple hasn't gotten into this bandwagon yet, but that's about to change. The Cupertino company is working on new Apple M4 chips that will join this race.

Mark Gurman from Bloomberg revealed that Apple is working on new M4 series chips. These will probably be equipped with specialized NPU (Neural Processing Unit) units to perform tasks related to artificial intelligence.

The new systems will be available in several versions. The weakest of them, known under the code name Donan, is to be available in MacBook Air, Mac Mini and selected variants of MacBook Pro. The mid-range system (Brava) is designed for MacBook Pro and Mac Mini. The most powerful Hidra will be available in the most efficient MacBook Pros, which can support up to 512 GB of RAM.

Apple wants to get on the bandwagon called AI PC. For some time now, Cupertino has been working on a language model called MM1, which is said to be able to recognize both text and image content. In addition, the reputable company is also reportedly talking to Google, OpenAI (ChatGPT) and Baidu, as it does not have much experience in this type of solutions and is looking for a partner.

We should learn more details during WWDC in June.
