Apple bought part of Intel? That’s what Donald Trump suggests
In a short conversation with journalists Donald Trump suggested that Apple could get involved in capital Intel. The statement was made when asked about the increase in the share price of the processor manufacturer after the US government entered the company. The president said that after Washington’s decision, others “they followed”mentioning, among others, Apple and NVIDIA. These words immediately caught the imagination of industry analysts.
There’s a good chance that Donald Trump was… wrong
Donald Trump reminded that The Blues were to turn to him for helpand the condition for support was to transfer 10% of the shares to the USA. According to the president, more players joined the game almost immediately after that.
This narrative would suggest that Apple has indeed invested in Intel, perhaps in the context of talks held in the third quarter of 2025. The industry has been pointing to circumstantial evidence for months that could confirm this, including recruitment announcements by Apple and Broadcom for EMIB technology specialists and reports that Apple has acquired a design kit for Intel 18A lithography for cheaper M-family chips.
The problem is that So far, there has been no official announcement from either Intel or Apple. If a significant block of shares were sold, the company would have to inform shareholders about this. This makes some experts lean towards a different interpretation. Perhaps the words that “Apple entered” referred not to a capital investment, but to signing a production contract.
This scenario seems more realistic, especially in the context of Apple’s considerations of using 18A and 14A processes in future SoCs. On the other hand, orders of several tens of millions of chips should be reflected in Intel’s financial reportsand these are to be delivered to investors in the coming weeks.
A simple mistake cannot be ruled out either. Trump may have meant SoftBank Groupwhich announced the purchase of $2 billion of Intel stock in August 2025, around the same time the U.S. government entered the company. Without clear declarations from the companies concerned, there are only speculations.
