Another country is thinking about banning dozens of applications for people under 16 years of age. This time, However, this is not distant Australiabut Great Britain. Technology Minister Peter Kyle admitted that in their country the possibility of introducing this type of ban is being seriously considered. In an interview with BBC Radio 4, he said:
I will do whatever is necessary to keep people, especially children, safe online.
Kyle also presented a list of priorities regarding online security, giving clear signals that Ofcom (the regulatory body) should act more boldly. He added that he cared about it powers included in the Online Safety Act (OSA), which comes into force next year, were enforced by Ofcom. Recall that OSA demands that technology companies take greater responsibility for the content published on their platforms to protect children from legal but harmful content. If platforms do not comply with the requirements of the Act, they will be subject to financial penalties.
