Another bank wants to track the customer from a slightly different angle. What is it about?

This method increases the security of bank customers, but the most difficult challenge is to convince them to use it. PKO BP is planning changes to contracts with new customers and has prepared a note to ensure their safety.

Another bank plans to monitor customer behavior a little more closely. Everything comes down to increasing the level of customer security and, of course, does not apply to all data. PKO BP Bank plans to introduce changes to contracts with new customers, including default consent to detailed analysis of patterns and behavior patterns. What’s the point of all this?

The goal is to increase the protection of money against fraudsters

Poles want to feel safer, but unfortunately they are very skeptical about granting this type of consent. It can even be said that when given such an option, they use it reluctantly, or even not at all. For example, at ING Bank Śląski, 27% of customers consented to tracking behavior (behavioral verification), and at Paribas Bank – 50%.

Want to track your typing speed and mouse movements?

Behavioral verification is a new, completely free method of protection against fraudsters. Works on all devices – computer and smartphone. The consent granted may be withdrawn at any time. Verification does not cover situations when the customer provides a BLIK code and makes a transfer to a new account.

Behavioral analysis includes, for example, how a user moves the mouse cursor or types on the keyboard. By verifying these habits, we can determine your individual behavioral profile, i.e. your specific way of using the iPKO website.

Thanks to it, we can protect your finances in a situation when a fraudster intercepts or extorts your login, password and PIN, blocking activities on your account.

The security works in the background, monitoring mouse movements, keyboard use and screen scrolling, which allows you to build a behavioral profile of the user. Detection of unusual behavior triggers additional security measures.

– explains how the Kasa Stefczyka process works.

Data from the analysis of bank users’ behavior are sent to the Credit Information Bureau (BIK). This type of verification is a method of strong customer authorization recognized by the European Banking Authority.

So what data do banks intend to analyze?

The pace and manner of typing on the keyboard, mouse movements and click times, the characteristic way of scrolling the screen, etc. In no case will the entered messages, details of operations performed or sensitive data be subject to analysis.
