Android Auto is changing Google Maps. You don’t have to reach for your phone

If you rarely use Google Maps on your phone, you may not know that the application has been allowing you to set your own car avatar for some time. We can choose, among other things, the car model and its color. This option will also appear in Android Auto soon.

Until now, Android Auto synchronized our settings from the Google Maps application on the phone. If we had an avatar other than the default one set on our smartphone, it also appeared on the car screen. However, there was no way to change it without reaching for a mobile device.

However, in the new version of Android Auto, marked as 16.2.660604, this possibility has been announced. Android Authority analyzed the APK files and found references to the possibility of changing the avatar and its color directly in the Google Maps application on Android Auto, i.e. from the car screen.

For now, it is not known when this option will be finally made available. It’s probably a matter of a few weeks at most.
