An unprecedented Apple TV+ deal. These are sure hits
Apple TV has reached an agreement with Brandon Sanderson, the author of extremely popular fantasy and sci-fi books. The streaming platform gained the rights to film his entire work within the Cosmere universe. However, the agreement is unprecedented because it gives enormous control to the writer himself.
Apple TV will film Cosmere
The agreement apparently gives the author enormous control over the adaptations made on Apple TV. Sanderson himself will write, produce and consult on the series and their subsequent seasons. Neither George RR Martin had similar control, nor did JK Rowling.
Unofficially, it is said that Apple TV would first like to transfer books from the Mistborn series and The Stormlight Archive, which are probably Sanderson’s most popular works, to small screens. This choice should not be surprising.
Brandon Sanderson has sold over 50 million of his books worldwide. He is also the author of the most popular crowdfunding campaign in the history of Kickstarter, in which he raised a staggering amount of $42 million.
Interestingly, Brandon Sanderson is also interested in games based on his books. He recently admitted that he is already talking to AAA publishers.
