AMD Zen 5 processors are expected to bring a huge leap in performance

New AMD processors with the Zen 5 architecture should appear on store shelves in the second half of this year. The latest rumors indicate that these will be extremely efficient units. They are to be up to 40% faster than their predecessors.

The information was provided by @Kepler_2, well-known in the industry, who is considered extremely reliable when it comes to processors and hardware in general. He revealed that processors with the Zen 5 architecture are approximately 40 percent faster. more efficient than its predecessors with the Zen 4 architecture. Measurements were made using the SPEC benchmark.

Such a large jump in performance may raise doubts. So far, we have seen increases of 10-20%. generation to generation, so AMD's feat would be unheard of. The last time we saw such improvement was during the premiere of the first generation of Ryzens.

However, we do not know whether the 40% improvement applies to integers or floating-point operations. In the latter case, the actual improvement in computing power would be smaller.

The Zen 5 architecture will be used in both desktop (Granite Ridge), mobile and server processors from the EPYC line. The former are to have a maximum of 16 cores, but specification details are still unknown.
