AMD Z2 Extreme. This Chip Is a Revolution for Portable Game Consoles
AMD has revealed its new Z2 Extreme. The chip will be used in new versions of portable gaming devices, such as the ASUS Rog Ally and Lenovo Legion Go. It is expected to offer a big jump in performance.
At the IFA trade show in Berlin, the press had the opportunity to attend AMD’s presentation, where the company revealed some important details about the Z2 Extreme chip.
First of all, the first devices equipped with it will appear in early 2025. In addition, AMD emphasized that the biggest improvements came in gaming performance and battery life. AMD’s Jack Huynh revealed that wanted the battery of the Z2 Extreme devices to last 3 hours of playing Black Myth: Wukong on a single charge – compared to the current generation of equipment that can withstand Wukong for 45 minutes. This isn’t a definitive indicator that this is what we’ll get on the Z2 Extreme, but AMD has certainly taken steps in that direction.
As reported by Jez Corden from Windows Central, the new layout may be based on AMD Strix Pointa mobile chip that is an alternative to Qualcomm Snapdragon and Apple systems, on Zen architecture 5.
