AMD Strix Point Wide Availability Only in October
Those planning to buy a new laptop, handheld or Mini PC should wait. Much more AMD Strix Point-based hardware will hit stores in the fall.
A few days ago, mobile processors debuted on the market AMD Ryzen AI 300which are based on architectures AMD Zen5 and RDNA3.5. These are the first Red systems designed to work with AI and meet the requirements for Microsoft Copilot+. According to independent tests, their performance looks very good.
The AMD Strix Point family consists of three models
Unfortunately, it looks like Reds fans will have to be patient. We’ll have to wait a while for computers with the aforementioned APU to become widely available. AMD focused on its largest partners and a very limited number of high-end laptops.
Chinese manufacturer AOOSTAR reports that the series AMD Strix Point will not be widely available until October. This applies to portable consoles, Mini PCs and laptops from smaller companies. The hardware designs are already ready, and the motherboards themselves resemble those for Phoenix and Hawk Point, but the chips are missing.
Currently, the AMD Ryzen AI 300 series includes three models:
- AMD Ryzen AI9 HX375 – 12 cores; 24 threads; clock speed 2.0 – 5.1 GHz; 55 TOPS for NPU;
- AMD Ryzen AI9 HX375 – 12 cores; 24 threads; clock speed 2.0 – 5.1 GHz; 50 TOPS for NPU;
- AMD Ryzen AI9 365 – 10 cores; 20 threads; clock speed 2.0 – 5.0 GHz; 50 TOPS for NPU;
The competition from the Blues is expected to appear in September. We are talking about the arrangements Intel Lunar Lakewhich are also designed with slim laptops and handhelds in mind, as well as working with artificial intelligence. So it looks like we’re in for a fierce battle this fall.
