AMD Polaris is everlasting. The new Radeon RX 580 hits the market
Is there a method to this madness? BIOSTAR has released a new graphics card based on a generation from 7 years ago. It’s supposed to be cheap, but what about performance?
Graphics Card Series AMD Radeon RX500 debuted on the market in 2017. Family Polaris she was still using the old but refined one GCN architecture. This was one of the reasons why these deals were so successful, because the Reds were able to offer very good price-performance ratio.
BIOSTAR opted for a white color scheme

The Taiwanese have just announced a card BIOSTAR Radeon RX 580 VA5815RQ82 White. There is a model using a newer and weaker core equipped with 2048, instead of 2304, streaming processors. This is complemented 8GB GDDR5 memory 7 Gbps on a 256-bit data bus. All at TDP 150W.
The card measures 224 x 125 x 46 millimeters and uses a dual-fan cooling system. Among the video connectors, we get two DisplayPort 1.4a and one HDMI 2.0and a single 8-pin cable is enough for power supply. Of course, the interface is older PCI Express 3.0 x16but here it is quite enough.
Okay, so is it worth buying the Radeon RX 580 in 2024? It depends. The described card will be more efficient than even the best iGPU in processors, but it will be enough for Full HD at most. And that’s where its advantages end, and its disadvantages begin – old codecs, lack of ray tracing, and lack of driver optimization. Even the price is a difficult argument to defend, because there are tons of used models on the secondary market.
