Allegro with a sensational service. He assures that it is legal
Allegro may revolutionize the online alcohol sales market. Yes, the largest e-commerce company in Poland wants to sell high-proof alcoholic beverages.
Allegro is the largest e-commerce company in Poland. Although foreign platforms are trying to undermine its position, the company founded in Poland (although now owned by several investment funds with Western capital) is still doing well. Moreover, it intends to develop and introduce alcohol sales – informs Dziennik Gazeta Prawna in today's edition.
Allegro wants to sell alcohol
The company's plans were announced by its spokesman, Marcin Gruszka. Allegro does not want to reveal any details yet, but preparations are underway to start selling spirits.
We are working on introducing the possibility of purchasing alcohol online. Our research shows that customers are interested in this.
– said Marcin Gruszka, Allegro spokesman.
According to the newspaper's information, Allegro will not allow the delivery of alcohol via parcel lockers because this way it is impossible to verify the buyer's age. The drinks will have to be delivered by couriers who will be obliged to verify the customer's age. They can already check documents for some products.
The idea is already causing controversy and doubts, also within Allegro itself. Currently, there is a lot of talk in Poland about limiting access to alcohol. Ideas have been floated, including withdrawing it from gas stations or introducing a night prohibition at the local government level.
The sale of alcohol on Allegro is possible due to the judgment of the Supreme Administrative Court from 2022. The government decided that since a stationary store received a permit to sell spirits, it also applies to online sales.
