Znana firma pożyczkowa nastraszyła Polaków. Spokojnie, to nie atak

A well-known loan company scared Poles. Don’t worry, it’s not an attack

Customers of the Vivus lending company received a mailing suggesting the need to change their password, not only on the platform, but also the password for the e-mail box and in other applications. Has there been a data leak? We got an official answer.

A terrifying email from Vivus

As our readers report, they received e-mails in their inboxes messages from Vivus that may suggest that the security of their personal data has been breached. The content of the e-mail was not provided with a description justifying the suggested actions:

Taking care of your safety, we have reset the password to your Customer Profile.

What to do:
1. Scan your devices (computer, phone) with an up-to-date antivirus program,
2. Change the password for the Customer Profile,
3. Go to https://client.vivus.pl/password-recovery and enter the phone number you used to register on Vivus.pl. Then follow the on-screen instructions. Set a different password than the one you used before – do not go back to it.
4. We also recommend changing the password for your email box and other applications. Be especially careful not to use the same passwords for different websites.

As you can see, it is very detailed instructionswhich is typical of situations where the security of a given website has been breached. Due to the regulations on the processing and security of personal data (GDPR) that have been clarified in recent years, these types of messages are usually supplemented with a description of the situation and information about a security incident being sent to the Personal Data Protection Office. However, this was missing in the message from Vivus.

Official response from Soon Finance

We went to Soon Finance, the owner of vivus.pl, to ask for clarification. As the Soonly press office assures, customers can rest assured that the mailing sent has nothing to do with data leakage.

We have recently introduced changes to the customer profile login process, which increase the level of personal data security. Therefore, some customers whose accounts have been inactive for a long time were sent a request to change their password. The situation is not related to any data leak

– the press office of Soony, the owner of vivus.pl, told the Telepolis.pl editorial office

It can only be hoped that the company’s future announcements will be better adapted to the situation.
