A real gem for drivers awaits in Lidl. For winter and tent use
This is a device marked as UMAP 12000 C4. Seemingly, it is an ordinary, mobile car starter power bank. However, considering its price and the technologies used in it, we are dealing with a device with really great capabilities, which is also very durable.
UMAP 12000 C4
Let’s start with the basic function, i.e. starting the car. Just connect the terminals to the battery according to the principle: red to red, black to black, turn the key, and after starting the car, disconnect the device. There is also a built-in flashlight, which will make this process easier after dark. That’s the standard. However, it is worth remembering that it can handle petrol with a capacity of up to 3 liters and diesel up to 2 liters.
Of course: there are also USB ports: 2 USB-C and 1 USB-A. This is also standard, after all, adding a simple converter that allows you to charge your smartphone is nothing we wouldn’t expect here. But this is still not the end. Well, we won’t find a classic lithium-ion battery here, but LiFePo4. This is a much safer and more durable solution. Of course, it also has disadvantages, such as lower energy density compared to lithium-ion batteries, which means larger dimensions and weight. However, in the case of a boot device, this is not such a problem.
The advantage is the presence of a dedicated 12 V port with an adapter for a car socket. Thanks to this, in the summer, during camping trips, this powerbank will be able to power a tourist refrigerator, an immersion shower or an electric blanket. And all this at a promotional price of PLN 149. There’s one more thing worth mentioning: capacity. This is 38.4 Wh. The conversion to standard mAh does not make sense here, because LiFePo4 operates at a voltage of 3.2 V, not 3.7 V like lithium-ion batteries. Therefore, the capacities expressed in this way are incomparable with each other.
