Withings has unveiled its new high-end hybrid watch, the ScanWatch 2. It is capable of taking your temperature, measuring heart rate and performing ECGs.
Alongside connected watches capable of running numerous applications or sports watches, designed for performance measurements, Withings stands out with its range of hybrid connected watches, the ScanWatch. This Friday, at the IFA in Berlin, the French manufacturer announced its new range including its new flagship, the Withings ScanWatch 2.
This new hybrid connected watch arrives on the market three years after the first ScanWatch. Like the previous model, and like the Withings Steel HR, this is a hybrid connected watch equipped with both a real watch dial, with mechanical hands, but also a small screen allowing you to display certain data such as heart rate or notifications from your smartphone.
The ScanWatch 2 is also equipped with numerous sensors allowing you to take health measurements. Unsurprisingly, we will find a measurement of activity and the number of steps, but also of heart rate with the possibility of determining different HR zones as well as an estimate of VO2Max.
Like the previous model, the watch benefits from an integrated electrocardiogram to measure the electrical activity of your heart and determine potential risks of atrial fibrillation. The watch can also measure oxygen saturation in the blood and can identify potential respiratory disturbances.
The arrival of continuous temperature measurement
The main new feature of the Withings ScanWatch 2, however, lies in its continuous temperature monitoring. Both Apple and Samsung offer skin temperature measurement, but only at night. The new hybrid watch is now capable of taking your temperature during the day as well as during your workouts. Concretely, the watch will measure variations in the reference temperature during the day and at night, indicate the temperature zones during training, the daytime temperature zones as well as the recovery temperature after exercise.
The Withings ScanWatch 2 is also available in two formats, 38 or 42 mm. On the small screen side, count on a monochrome Oled display with 282 pixels per inch and a diameter of 0.63 inch. Hybrid watch obliges, Withings announces up to 30 days of autonomy. The watch is also 5 ATM certified and can therefore be worn in the shower or in a shallow swimming pool.
The Withings ScanWatch 2 is available for pre-order at a price of 349.95 euros with a launch planned for October. It will be available in six versions: silver black (38 or 42 mm), silver white (38 mm or 42 mm), rose gold sand (38 mm) and rose gold blue (38 mm).
