A new Barracuda is coming. We're talking about top performance

There are a lot of different manufacturers and models on the SSD market. And the biggest novelty are media with the PCI Express 5.0 interface, capable of offering record-breaking performance. However, this is still a niche – they are expensive, and additionally supported only by the latest AMD and Intel processors and motherboards.

Seagate BarraCuda 530 will offer performance up to 7.4 GB/s

It is for this reason that many manufacturers are releasing new SSDs that use the older PCI Express 4.0. It is true that we are talking about lower efficiency, but… more affordable prices and much greater versatility. Both when it comes to desktop computers, laptops, and consoles.

Seagate BarraCuda 530 is a medium in format M.2 2280which uses the interface PCIe 4.0 x4 and protocol NVMe 2.0. This is the successor to the BarraCuda 520 model released in 2020. There are three capacities to choose from – 512 GB and 1 and 2 TB. They differ in performance, which is as follows:

• Seagate BarraCuda 530 (512 GB) – up to 7200 MB/s for reading and up to 4300 MB/s for sequential writing;
• Seagate BarraCuda 530 (1 TB) – up to 7400 MB/s for reading and up to 6100 MB/s for sequential writing;
• Seagate BarraCuda 530 (2 TB) – up to 7400 MB/s for reading and up to 6400 MB/s for sequential writing;

The manufacturer provides 5 years warranty limited by the saved data ratio. It is respectively 300, 600 and 1200 TB. There is no tragedy, but the competition often offers better conditions.
