A great success for Polish artists. Spotify showed specific data

Spotify has just released a report showing the growing influence of women in the music industry. The platform itself is also trying to contribute to this success, among others, through the EQUAL Polska program, which focuses on strengthening the position of local women artists. As data from Spotify shows, women’s influence on music is growing in many ways.

Since 2019, the number of female artists on the platform has increased by almost 25%. In addition the annual number of plays of songs by female artists in Poland exceeded 2 billion, which means an increase of almost 600% since 2019. More and more female artists are also included in the list of the most listened to songs, and 2024 promises to be the year with the largest number of Polish artists in the Spotify Top 100 so far. In 2019, there was only one artist from Poland (Daria Zawiałow) on the Top 100 list. In 2024, we can already reveal that this number will increase to 7 names.

Similarly, the number of songs by female artists in Spotify’s top 100 most listened to songs has also increased, almost doubling since 2023. Since 2019, we have seen a staggering 1,200% increase in the number of songs by female artists in the Top 100. A noteworthy trend is the extraordinary increase in the popularity of Polish women’s rap, with streaming increasing by almost 5,000% since 2019, and other genres that are gaining popularity include Viral pop, Dance, Trap and Folk.

Since the launch of Spotify EQUAL in Poland in 2021, the platform has recognized 44 women artists as program ambassadors and promoted even more women through dedicated playlists.
