A giant with some serious problems. A buyer is already on the horizon
Intel is a sweet spot for many investors. All signs point to its rival, tech giant Qualcomm, also having a go at it.
According to information provided by Reuters, Technology company Qualcomm is trying to take over some of Intel’s businessAs previously reported on Telepolis, the well-known the processor manufacturer is having trouble achieving its goals and is considering selling selected components of the company.
Qualcomm – what company is this?
Qualcomm is Intel’s competitor. The $184 billion company deals mainly with production processors for mobile phones. Its client is, among others, Apple.
The subject of the potential transaction would be Intel’s division that designs integrated circuits. Intel has not commented on the reports. Experts, however, say that such a takeover is very possible. It may even be inevitable, given the giant’s recent problems.
As we wrote recently on Telepolis, Intel is not doing so well. The giant is clearly losing the competition in artificial intelligence. In the latest quarterly report revealed poor financial results, announcing plans to lay off up to 15% of its staff. He also announced the suspension of dividend payments to shareholders.
