A dark wolf was found in space. You have to see this photo
The European Southern Observatory showed off an intriguing photo of space. It shows… a dark wolf. It is created by a dark nebula, which, combined with the cosmic background, looks more delightful than scary.

The nebula, which has been named the Dark Wolf, is approximately 5,300 light-years away from us. However, thanks to the VLT Survey Telescope (VST) at ESO’s Paranal Observatory in Chile, we can now see this phenomenal fragment of space. Interestingly, this nebula is not that far from us at all, because it can be found in our galaxy, more precisely near the center of the Milky Way. What is really behind this shape?
How was this wolf hunted?
In fact, the Dark Wolf Nebula is part of a larger object of the same type with a less imaginative name, Gum 55. How was the effect seen in the photo created? Dark space is cold clouds of cosmic dust that are so thick that they block out the light from the stars behind them – explains Science Daily. This material only allows radiation with longer wavelengths, such as infrared light, to pass through.
The clouds surrounding the wolf are composed primarily of hydrogen. They owe their reddish color to light excited by intense UV radiation from newborn stars. Unfortunately, we are not able to observe all this with the naked eye. The photo was created thanks to the work of the mentioned telescope and a combination of photos taken with the VST Photometric Hα Survey of the Southern Galactic Plane and Bulgewhich has already helped explore about 500 million objects in our galaxy.
