A 21-year-old was fined 1,000 złoty for riding a… scooter.
Electric scooters are vehicles that are causing more and more controversy. Many cities are banning their use to increase the safety of residents. It turns out that still not every user knows that they can be fined for not adhering to the speed limit.
Speeding ticket on a scooter
Police officers from Opole fined a 21-year-old man who was driving an electric scooter at over 60 km/h. The driver of the vehicle was clearly unaware that scooters have a strict speed limit. He will pay dearly for his ignorance.
The maximum speed at which electric scooter riders can travel is 20 km/h. As the measurements of traffic police officers showed, the 21-year-old was moving at a speed of 61 km/h. The man was stopped for inspection and given a a fine of 1000 PLN. As you can see, it is still necessary to remind that e-scooter users are also subject to road traffic regulations and restrictions. The vehicle driver is also obliged to use bicycle paths and, in their absence, sidewalks.
The situation took place on September 7, in Komprachcice, in the Opole district. The police were attracted by the high speed of the scooter user. Their intuition was right. The measurements showed 61 km/h. What’s more, the permitted speed on this section was 41 km/h.
The police once again ask users of electric scooters to maintain appropriate speed and, above all, common sense.
