The EU is taking on Nintendo. Will force changes to Switch 2

I think we all agree that Nintendo Switch 2 was a huge success. We can discuss the capabilities of the console or the games being released, but the data is clear – the hardware sells better than hot cakes. However, the Japanese may soon be forced to make changes to the console. This is what the European Union wants.

The EU took on Nintendo

We receive information from Japan that Nintendo is working on a new version of Switch 2. The console is to be created with the European market in mind. The goal is simple – to create equipment that complies with the regulations that will soon come into force in the European Union.

What is it about? About the so-called right to repair. According to European regulations, every device equipped with a battery must be designed in such a way that: the user could replace it himself, without specialized tools. The rule is not yet in force, but it is only a matter of time, because the relevant regulations have already been adopted.

Therefore, the new version of Nintendo Switch 2 will enable not only easy battery replacement in the console itself, but also in the Joy-Con 2 controllers. It is possible that this version will be limited to the European market only. In Japan and the United States, the standard model will continue to be sold, without the possibility of replacing the battery.
