Qualcomm presents new chips for smartphones and watches
Faster data transfer
Qualcomm presented a new one X105 5G Modem-RF. This is the first platform to support the standard 3GPP Release 19. The manufacturer treats this equipment as base for creating a 6G network. The device allows you to download data at speed up to 14.8 Gbps. Sending files is fast up to 4.2 Gbps.
The modem is built-in artificial intelligence processor. Its task is to recognize the type of network traffic and optimize the connection. The radio part of the system was created in a technological process 6nm. The module consumes 30 percent less energy and takes less space on the phone’s motherboard.
The new modem supports four-band GNSS satellite navigation system. It also offers access to satellite data transmission. Users will send video, voice and text messages this way. The first smartphones with this system will debut in the second half of this year.
Changes in watches
The second novelty is the platform Snapdragon Wear Elitewas created with smartwatches in mind. The system works with systems WearOS, Android and Linux. The device has built-in NPU module. It is responsible for handling artificial intelligence tasks directly on the wrist.
The new processor is faster than its predecessor. The CPU module is working five times faster in single-core tasks. The power of the graphics system has increased sevenfold. This is to ensure smooth operation of the interface and applications.
There will be watches with a new layout work longer on one charge. The manufacturer declares an extended working time by 30 percent. Also applied quick charging mechanism. Battery refill up to 50 percent will take about 10 minutes.
Multiple connectivity modules
The Wear Elite platform supports six wireless technologies. It offers a modem 5GRedCap and module WiFi with reduced energy consumption. The manufacturer added support for the standard Bluetooth 6.0 and technology UWB. Watches will also support two-way satellite communication based on standard NB-NTN.
Qualcomm has already announced its first partners. The solution will go to company equipment Google, Motorola and Samsung. The first devices with the new system will appear in stores in a few months.
