Revolut: an agent will do your online shopping for you. Google’s innovation will help with this
Revolut Pay has become one of the first payment methods in the European Union compliant with the Google Agent Payments Protocol (AP2). It is an open standard developed by Google together with Revolut and other payment companies that allows AI assistants carry out safely transactions on behalf of users on various platforms.
The protocol was created in accordance with industry standards and legal regulations – is a solution connecting customers, sellers and payment providers. Revolut has directly contributed to the development of AP2, tailoring it specifically for direct account-to-account payments.
The future of shopping is not websites, but conversations
The company wants to transform the “click and pay” model into a world where the payment process is handled by an AI assistant. Instead of going through the next steps in the shopping cart, just tell the AI what we needand the agent will take care of the rest.
Tara Brady, President Google Cloud EMEA, emphasizes that thanks to the AP2 protocol, Revolut eliminates barriers and paves the way for a new generation of shopping for millions of customers in the UK and European Economic Area countries.
Revolut Pay guarantees that transactions carried out by AI agents are processed using a secure infrastructure Revolut. It includes instant notifications about every operation and integrated fraud monitoring system. For users, it means more transparent and secure shopping, and for sellers – higher conversion rates.
Fintech argues that for companies using Revolut Business, strategic opening to trade conducted by AI agents means ready for a new era of payments.
Google Agent Payments Protocol (AP2) is an initiative supported by over 60 companies from the payment and technology industries. This includes: brands such as PayPal, Mastercard, American ExpressAdyen, Worldpay, Worldline and UnionPay International, as well as fintechs such as Airwallex, Payoneer, dLocal and EBANX and trading platforms (e.g. Etsy). Klarna also appears among the partners, which announced the strengthening of cooperation with Google in the context of payments made by agents. The AP2 protocol itself was announced as an open standard in September 2025.
