Are you talking on the phone and turning on Revolut? Look at the top of the screen
Revolut wants to make things more difficult fraudsters who pretend to call from a bank and trick the victim into opening the app. The function detects when a customer opens the Revolut app during a phone call and informs whether there is a consultant or someone else on the other end. The tool also works when using instant messengers that enable voice calls. The new solution goes a step further than similar functions on the market, helping customers quickly report fraud attempts and secure their funds.
See what’s displayed on the banner
New feature displays information banner at the top of the screen when a customer opens the Revolut app while making a phone call. The system recognizes whether the customer is talking to a bank representative or another person generates an appropriate message. If the caller is Revolut, the banner will confirm that it is a real representative of the bank. If the caller is not Revolut, the customer will receive appropriate information warning.
After touching the banner, the customer will be taken to the security section, where he will find instructions and, depending on the situation, will be able to perform security actions.
The system works contextually, in real time. It is an additional level of protection against fraud “on a trusted person or institution”, which is carried out using the services of telecommunications operators (in a telephone conversation) and social engineering pressure on the victim.
The new feature is now active for all Revolut customers (in the UK and EEA countries, except Spain) with devices with iOS. Android users will have to do it themselves authorize the function in the Security Center tab in the Revolut app.
