100 years of BGK: innovative payment cards for the visually impaired
Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego introduces a new image of payment cards, adapted to the needs of blind and visually impaired people. Thanks to a special cut-out (blind notch) and graphics symbolizing infinity, BGK combines modernity with accessibility, while celebrating its 100th anniversary.
Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego is already 100 years old. On this occasion, BGK is introducing a new look for payment cards that are tailored to the special needs of its customers. Debit and charge cards feature a solution blind notchmaking them easier to use for blind and visually impaired people.
Blind notch cards
Blind notch technology is an important step towards greater inclusivity. Thanks cutout on cardspeople with vision problems can easily identify the front of the card, which should make it easier to use them in ATMs and payment terminals. This solution is intended to increase user comfort and raise the level of security, reducing the risk of misuse of the card.

Symbolism and ecology
The new BGK payment cards not only support accessibility, but also symbolize the 100th anniversary of the bank. The infinity symbol graphic refers to the campaign “History of the Future”emphasizing the continuity and development of the bank over the years. Additionally, the cards are made made from recycled plasticwhich is intended to demonstrate the bank’s concern for the natural environment.
When developing the new version of payment cards, we wanted to combine several important elements. The new graphics remind us of the 100th anniversary of BGK, which we are celebrating this year. We have also adapted our cards to the needs of blind and visually impaired people, to make it easier for them to perform basic banking activities.
